Terms of Service

The ground rules for using Xtreme Weather: our Discord server, this website, and the Snowball bot. By using any of them, you agree to these terms.

Effective July 3, 2026. Version 1.0.

01 Acceptance

These Terms cover your use of the Xtreme Weather Discord server, this website, and the Snowball bot, together the "Services," operated under the Xtreme Weather brand by BP Technologies, a division of Bromwell-Poe Enterprises, LLC ("BP Technologies," "we," "us," or "our"). By joining the server, using the website, or interacting with Snowball, you're agreeing to these Terms along with our Privacy Policy and Community Charter. If you don't agree, please don't use the Services.

Your use of Discord is also governed by Discord's Terms of Service. Nothing here overrides their rules.

02 Eligibility

You need to meet the minimum age required to use Discord in your country. The Services aren't directed at anyone below that age. Some content covers severe weather and serious topics, so keep that in mind.

03 Conduct

Our Community Charter is the standard every member agrees to uphold, and it's part of these Terms. Beyond that, you agree not to:

Break the law, infringe on others' rights, or share content you don't have the right to post
Harass, threaten, impersonate, or endanger anyone in the community
Spread weather misinformation, especially during active Coverage Modes
Circumvent AutoMod, exploit bugs, or abuse or manipulate Snowball and its commands
Disrupt or attempt unauthorized access to any part of the Services or their infrastructure
Advertise or self-promote without prior staff approval, period

Enforcement Violations are handled under our Charter's enforcement procedures, ranging from a warning to a mute to a ban. Staff hold discretion to act as the situation calls for. See the Charter for details, and you can always appeal a ban if you believe it was a mistake.

04 Snowball & AI

Snowball covers weather tools, AI, moderation, support, economy, and more. Features can change, break, or be removed at any time. Snowball is provided as-is, and we can't promise it'll always be up or error-free.

AI is not advice. Snowball's AI can be wrong, incomplete, or inappropriate. Don't rely on it for anything serious, and for life-safety weather decisions, always go to NOAA/NWS.
Context. Depending on how you use it, the AI may process nearby messages and images. Our Privacy Policy covers what that involves.
Fair use. Cooldowns and usage limits exist for a reason. Don't try to work around them.

05 Economy

Snowball includes a virtual economy with Snowflakes, items, levels, roles, boars, stocks, and more. It exists for fun within the community, nothing more.

Virtual currency and items have no real-world monetary value, can't be exchanged for cash, and aren't your property.
We can adjust, reset, remove, or re-price economy features at any time, including to fix bugs or abuse.
Balances can be lost if your account is removed or a feature is shut down. That's just how it works.

06 Donations

Donations help keep the bots, radar, and alerts running. They're voluntary contributions, not purchases of goods or services.

Payments are processed by Stripe. We never receive your full card details.
Donations are non-refundable, except where required by law.
Any perks tied to a donation are a courtesy and can change. A donation doesn't buy special treatment under our Charter or moderation, period.

07 Content & IP

The Xtreme Weather name, Snowball, logos, and original site content belong to us and can't be copied or reused without permission. Third-party marks, including the Weather-Ready Nation Ambassador logo, belong to their respective owners and are used with permission.

You keep ownership of what you submit, but by sharing it you grant us a license to use it as needed to run the Services, like displaying a message on a starboard or processing a support ticket. Don't submit content you don't have the rights to.

08 Disclaimers

Not for life-safety decisions Weather data and AI output from the Services are for general information only and can be delayed, incomplete, or wrong. Never use them to make safety decisions. Always follow NOAA, the NWS, and local emergency officials.

The Services are provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Bromwell-Poe Enterprises, LLC (including its BP Technologies division) and its staff and volunteers are not liable for any damages arising from your use of, or inability to use, the Services.

09 Third parties

The Services rely on third parties like Discord, Stripe, Anthropic, and various weather providers listed in our Privacy Policy. We aren't responsible for their services, and their own terms apply when you use them.

10 Termination

We can suspend or remove your access at any time for violating these Terms or our Charter, to protect the community, or to comply with the law. You can stop using the Services at any time by leaving the server and ceasing use of the bot and website.

11 Changes

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will post the updated Terms on this page and update the effective date and version shown at the top of this page. For material changes, we will also give you reasonable advance notice before the changes take effect, through an announcement in the Xtreme Weather Discord server and, where appropriate, other reasonable channels. Continuing to use the Services after a change takes effect means you accept the updated Terms. If you don't agree to a change, stop using the Services and leave the server before it takes effect.
