Community Charter

Xtreme Weather was built by people who love weather, for people who love weather. This charter is the foundation that keeps it that way. By being here, you agree to uphold these standards and help us protect the community everyone shows up for.

  1. Respect & Conduct

Every member of Xtreme Weather deserves to be treated with dignity and respect, period. Regardless of personal differences or history: bullying, harassment, discrimination, or targeted trolling directed at any fellow member will not be tolerated here under any circumstances.

  2. Drama & Conflict

We're built on community, and it never included conflict. Any behavior that creates, sustains, or encourages drama, whether it's directed at individual members, other servers, or outside communities, has no place here. Some flagged accounts and communities may be subject to automated enforcement.

  3. Explicit Content

We enforce a zero-tolerance policy on explicit, adult, NSFW, or NSFL content of any kind. There are no exceptions to this, as many of our members are under 18.

  4. Spam Content

Walls of text, emoji floods, mass mentions, GIF spam: none of it belongs here, unless allowed during events. Keep the conversation meaningful and fresh! Messages may be subject to automated enforcement.

  5. Misinformation

False or misleading information, especially weather misinformation, is something we take seriously, and it won't be tolerated whatsoever, particularly during active Coverage Modes. Please read our Coverage Policies before participating in Coverage chats. When in doubt, leave it out!

  6. Language

We're open to all cultures, however, English is the official language of Xtreme Weather. Staff can only moderate content they can read and understand, and non-English messages will be removed.

  7. Politics & Religion

Xtreme Weather was created for weather, not debates. Political debates, controversial religious discussion, or any content of that nature doesn't have a place here and will not be entertained. Keep it to the weather!

  8. System Integrity

Members are expected to operate in good faith. Attempting to circumvent AutoMod, abusing or manipulating Snowball and its AI commands, exploiting gaps in this charter, or submitting false reports against Staff are all violations that will be taken seriously. If you believe you've been treated unfairly, contact us, that's what we're here for!

  9. Member Privacy

While we care deeply for our members, we aren't mental health professionals. Sensitive, private, or deeply personal discussions do not belong in the community. Respect each other's privacy and wellbeing, because it matters.

  10. Self-promotion

We aren't an advertising platform. Promoting social media accounts, Discord servers, or similar content without prior Staff approval is not permitted, period.

Enforcement

Xtreme Weather takes policy enforcement seriously, and our Staff team is committed to applying it fairly, consistently, and as transparently as possible. Our Coverage Policies fall under these procedures as well. In most cases, violations are handled progressively, but may vary on a case-by-case basis.

  1. Verbal Warning

An informal heads-up from Staff, typically for minor or first-time offenses.

  2. Warning

A formal, moderative warning issued through Snowball and logged to your account.

  3. Mute

A temporary server timeout that restricts your activity. Your mute duration escalates with repeated offenses, mainly ranging from an hour, to a day, then a week.

  4. Ban

Reserved for severe violations or continued offenses after prior action. You can also appeal your ban through Snowball.

Staff hold discretion to skip steps for serious violations, or to perform moderation actions outside our Charter & Policies. If you believe you've been treated unfairly, appeal or contact us, that's exactly what we're here for.
