PDS Red Flag Warning issued for California

A very rare particularly dangerous Red Flag Warning has been issued for the coasts, valleys and mountains in the Santa Ana Wind prone corridor of Los Angeles/Ventura Counties from Monday night into Tuesday.

What is Santa Ana Wind?

From the NOAA’s National Weather Service Glossary, it states that “In southern California, a weather condition in which strong, hot, dust-bearing winds descend to the Pacific Coast around Los Angeles from inland desert regions.”

What to expect during this time period?

During this time, you should expect wind gusts of up to 50 to 80 MPH, downed trees and power outages. Humidity will be between 5-15%. Dangerous driving conditions due to crosswinds.
