Why do some areas have low quality or no radar coverage?

Radar beams travel in straight lines while the Earth curves, causing the beam elevation to increase with distance. Mountain ranges can also block radar beams. These factors create coverage gaps where precipitation may not be detected, especially at lower altitudes.

What is Spotter Network?

Spotter Network displays the locations of trained weather spotters who voluntarily report their positions on the map. These spotters are storm chasers and weather enthusiasts who have completed training to identify and report dangerous weather conditions.

Woohoo!
